Starting from Khao Lak, or further north in Kura Buri (depending on which dates you go), we set off in the evening so that we can get the most out of our Similan snorkeling days. The first evening is an excellent way for you to meet your fellow snorkellers and get a good nights sleep on board before waking up at the empty snorkel site.
On a Similan snorkeling safari with Andaman Snorkel Discovery you will cruise the beautiful Similan Islands, the fairly undiscovered Surin Islands, the stunning Koh Tachai and the Manta hot spot that is Koh Bon. You will get the chance to snorkel away from crowds and visit pristine white sandy beaches with only a few people in sight. On our boat, the eye catching Reggae Queen, you can sit back and enjoy fantastic fresh Thai food and adventure out on our dinghy to unexplored places.
You will get the chance to learn about what sea life the Andaman holds within and meet like-minded people who are also there to relax and enjoy. The absolute highlight of our Similan snorkeling tour is a visit to the Surin Islands. Here we see the Moken (Sea Gypsy) community and how they live and we also visit some unique snorkel spots here too.
Another ‘must’ when on a Similan snorkeling adventure is a visit to Koh Tachai. This island is an amazing paradise destination with crystal clear turquoise waters and fine white sandy beaches, all lined with lush rainforest. One of our most important endeavours on our trips is to make sure we avoid the crowds.
Koh Tachai is notorious for being a speedboat day tripper destination. For this reason we make sure that we arrive after and leave before this speedboat entourage are there. This is one aspect that makes a Similan liveaboard with Andaman Snorkel Discovery better than all the rest.
The popular destinations are visited by many speedboats during the days, we wake up and snorkel the site before they get there.
The real highlight with an Andman Snorkel Discovery snorkeling liveaboard is the time we have in the Surin Islands. No other snorkel liveaboard makes this stop and it is truly special. With Ralf’s experience and love of this section of National Park we have managed to uncover some fascinating and exciting snorkel discoveries. Our number one highlight of the whole trip is when we visit the baby sharks basking in the mangroves. A visit to their territory really is a treat and an honour. We do this when tides allow and take a traditional Moken Long Tail boat over.
On the Surins we also make sure to stop by the Moken School and see some of the Moken village activities. The kids love it when Ralf comes by and he’ll often stop in for a quick English lesson. This is fun to watch and helps the kids improve their skills for their future education.
If you have already done some research into Andaman Snorkel Discovery, you will probably have come across some of the many rave reviews about the food on board. We do make sure that we feed our guests well and our onboard cook is first class. As you can read from the reviews she has received on holidyacheck.de and on our reviews page, you will learn that customers are not disappointed by her cooking.
On the last evening it’s the Captain’s Barbecue with fish purchased from the local Moken fishermen, caught fresh that day. We always use fresh ingredients sourced from the local market and can cater for vegetarians and those with special dietary requirements.
A 3 day 3 night Similan snorkeling liveaboard with Andaman Snorkel Discovery is the best way to take in the beautiful snorkel destinations in the Similan Islands and Surin Islands. This is the only Thailand snorkel liveaboard that visits both these National Parks and it is also the only trip that covers 4 days, starting on the evening of day 1 so that you can wake up at the snorkel destination in the morning before anyone gets there.
It is these details that we feel are important, that make your trip the most fun, relaxing and unforgettable experience possible. These are the reasons why you should choose Andaman Snorkel Discovery for your Similan snorkeling liveaboard.
